Origin Story

Closer was born from a moment of wonder. On a visit to a gemstone supplier’s office in Jaipur, I was captivated by the endless colors, cuts, and shapes of natural gemstones — each one unique, each one alive.

I couldn’t help but ask: why does fine jewelry limit itself to the “big four” — diamonds, emeralds, rubies, and sapphires - when there are hundreds of gemstones with equal brilliance and beauty? Traditional jewelers rarely embrace bold stones, while costume jewelry lacks the sparkle and craftsmanship of fine gems. Boutique designers who do work with colored stones often price their pieces out of reach, and the artisanal supply chains make access to gemstones inconsistent for most jewelers.

Closer was created to change that — to make natural, colorful gemstone jewelry fine, fun, and accessible.

Closer is an independent, woman-led jewelry house, built on the freedom to question everything, break rules, and challenge the status quo. Our priority is simple: to create the highest quality jewelry while daring to do things differently.

As a small, independent brand, we oversee every detail — from sketching collections to sourcing the top 1% of natural gemstones, to setting, finishing, and packaging. We work closely with our manufacturing partners in a transparent way: visiting their workshops, knowing the people and families behind the craft.

This independence allows us to stay true to our vision, forge our own path, and follow our hearts — always with our customers, artisans, partners, and the environment in mind.

Responsible Sourcing & Production

At Closer, responsible sourcing isn’t a trend,  it’s the foundation of how we work.

  • We use only conflict-free solid gold, sourced through institutional bodies and predominantly recycled.
  • Our diamonds are responsibly sourced and conflict-free, with Kimberley Process certification for stones 1ct and above.
  • We work with gemstone suppliers who have been in the trade for generations, sourcing from a trusted network of small, artisanal mines. Many of these suppliers cut and polish stones themselves, preserving traditions and ensuring traceability.
  • Craftsmanship: Our jewelry is produced in goldsmithing workshops that follow fair labor practices, valuing the artisans behind every piece.
  • Made-to-Order:We don’t create jewelry to fill showrooms. Our made-to-order model is intentional. It reduces waste, avoids unsold inventory, and allows our artisans the time and care needed to perfect every detail. It also means we are never pressured to discount unsold stock, giving you complete peace of mind with every purchase.
